Take Action
After selecting a file or folder, you can perform various actions by
- pressing Keyboard shortcut
- clicking on the Action bar
- executing it from Action list
Action bar
The action bar displays commonly used actions that you can click or trigger with keyboard shortcuts.
Actions displayed in the action bar change based on your selected file/folder
Press Cmd + K
to see the complete Action list.
Action list
The action list shows all actions available for your selected file or folder. Search for the action you need and execute it by clicking, pressing Enter
, or using shortcuts. Once action executed, it will go back to result area.
Press Esc
to go back to the result screen.

File preview
- Press
Cmd + Y
to preview selected file. Press again to close or pressEsc
. In results area,Space
can be used in addition toCmd + Y
- Press
Cmd + Option + Y
to enable full screen preview. Press again to close or pressEsc
. In results area,Option + Space
can be used in addition toCmd + Option + Y
- While in preview mode, use
up/down arrows
to browse pages in multi-page files like PDFs. - While in full-screen preview mode,
Space/Shift-Space
can be used to browse pages in addition toup/down arrows
- Use
Option + arrow keys
while previewing to navigate between files without closing preview
Open file or folder
- Press
Enter
to open selected file or folder - Please note if you are openning first item in the results, it can be opened by clicking
Enter
in the search bar. This applies to all actions
Show in Finder
- Press
Cmd + Enter
to show file or folder in Finder.
Copy
- Press
Cmd + C
to copy file or folder.
Finder Window Actions
When browsing Finder windows/tabs, following additional actions are available

to show the selected Finder window/tab -
Press
Command + W
to close the selected window/tab -
Press
Command + Shift + W
to close all Finder windows and tabs
Drag & Drop
Drag file/folder from FileMinutes’ left sidebar to other apps
